Company history

GdnAmerica was created in November 2009 by Bernard Markowicz, formerly a partner with the prestigious Opera Gallery, owners of ten international galleries from Paris to Dubai, representing high-end art. He co-founded Opera Gallery, New York, and was Director of Opera Gallery Miami. Several years ago, while traveling with his son to the elegant beach resort of Le Touquet, to share his family’s history, Bernard discovered the brilliantly colored and captivating paintings by Alain Godon.

He immediately bought a piece of Godon’s work and in conversation with the artist, learned that they shared growing up in the same the town of Arras, France.

Bernard saw the success that Godon was receiving in Europe, and as an avid art collector, he decided to bring his work to the States. Now, as CEO of godonAmerica, Bernard Markowicz is the exclusive publisher of Alain Godon’s limited edition series for the North, Central and South American markets.

The GdnAmerica showroom and main office are located in Miami, a vibrant and multicultural metropolis creating a cultural and economic bridge between the Americas, Europe and the Caribbean.
