PRESS RELEASE - MARCH 8, 2010
Godon Art Featured at Baltimore Design Group
Several pieces of limited edition art by acclaimed French painter Alain Godon are now available at the Baltimore Design Group in Port Washington. Godon’s playful and imaginative work captures the essence of a city, its people, culture, monuments, and architecture. Portraying every location like a native, he has painted the sites and spirit of Paris, New York City, Amsterdam and Le Touquet, a beach resort town in the North of France, and soon adds Miami to the exclusive list. Looking carefully at his art, one can find humorous family caricatures of the artist’s wife, his dogs and a self-portrait, all subtly painted into most of his pieces.
“The response to his work has been positive, this art is fun,” said Keith Baltimore owner of the high-end store that specializes in the creation of stylish and functional residential and commercial spaces. “I think that it’s the most creative, wonderful art that I have seen in a while. Godon combines pop art, architecture and whimsy.”
Alain Godon began his career painting chalk art on sidewalks outside of The Louvre, and recently the world-renowned painter and sculptor was invited to exhibit inside the museum’s hallowed walls. Christian Boeringer, former Commercial Director of the Louvre Museum, and Patrice Deparpe, Director of the Museum of Le Touquet, have dedicated an entire book to the artist, declaring him one of the best painters of his generation. He has exhibited in major art capitals around the world including New York, Moscow, Bali, and Paris.
Godon fans are devoted, and with a reputation that his work has been sold before the paint has even dried, some of his avid collectors have chartered flights just to attend openings of his exhibitions. To maintain the value of Alain Godon’s artwork, pieces are only sold through certified godonDealers. A certificate of authenticity is available for each piece of art purchased, with a unique process of electronic verification.
Two limited edition series of Alain Godon’s work are now available at the Baltimore Design Group, 35 Main Street, Port Washington. The hours are Monday -Friday 9:30am -5:30pm and Saturday from 10am -5pm. For information call 1.516.944.2400.
About godonAmerica godonAmerica was created in November 2009 by Bernard Markowicz, formerly a partner with the prestigious Opera Gallery, owners of ten international galleries from Paris to Dubai, representing high-end art. He co-founded Opera Gallery, New York, and was Director of Opera Gallery Miami. Several years ago, while traveling with his son to the elegant beach resort of Le Touquet, to share his family’s history, Bernard discovered the brilliantly colored and captivating paintings by Alain Godon. As an avid art collector Markowicz recognized the success that Godon was receiving in Europe, and decided to bring his work to the States. Now, as CEO of godonAmerica, Bernard Markowicz is the exclusive publisher of Alain Godon’s limited edition series for the Americas, that are sold only through registered godonDealers.
