  PRESS RELEASE - MAY 14, 2010

French Artist Featured
at Vinings Gallery

Several pieces of limited edition art by acclaimed French contemporary painter Alain Godon are now available at Vinings Gallery in Smyrna. The gallery is known as a one-of-a-kind art destination, and has chosen the unique work of Godon for its playful and imaginative pieces that capture the essence of each city he paints

“We explore artists from around the world and select those that we really like that will fit into the personality of the gallery. It’s as simple as that,” says Gary Handler, one of the country’s leading art consultants and one of the three partners who form the experienced and close-knit gallery staff. Handler believes that art needn’t be complicated. “After a long, tough day, you should be able to kick your shoes off, open up a bottle of wine, sit back and let that painting take you to a happy place.”

In Godon’s work, the viewer is transported into the artist’s colorful and whimsical world whether it is Paris, New York City, Amsterdam or Le Touquet, an elegant beach resort in the North of France. The artist recreates the sites and captures the spirit of the people, the monuments, and architecture. Recently, he was in South Florida to seek inspiration for his next series of paintings. He infuses his work with humor, and if one looks carefully there are family caricatures of his wife, his dogs and a self-portrait, all subtly painted into most of his pieces.

Alain Godon began his career painting chalk art on sidewalks outside of The Louvre Museum in Paris, and today the acclaimed artist has held exhibitions in major cities around the world including New York, Moscow, London and Bali. Christian Boeringer, former Commercial Director of the Louvre Museum, and Patrice Deparpe, Director of the Museum of Le Touquet, have dedicated an entire book to the artist, declaring him one of the best painters of his generation.

Godon fans are so devoted that his work has been sold before the paint has even dried; and some of his avid collectors have chartered flights just to attend openings of his exhibitions. To maintain the value of Alain Godon’s artwork, pieces are only sold through certified godonDealers. A certificate of authenticity is available for each piece of art purchased, with a unique process of electronic verification.
